With a growing choice of free as well as paid for High Definition programmes and a huge range of flat panel TV’s, now is the time to invest in that High Definition TV (HDTV) you have been promising yourself.

Until recently, the scarcity of HD material was a major disincentive to those thinking about buying an HDTV. While we will always demand more, Sky and Virgin Media have been steadily expanding their HD services to be able to give the viewer at least a reasonable fix of HD content.

For those who are not prepared to pay for their High Definition, Freesat and Freeview now offer a small (ITV HD, BBC HD and Ch4 HD) but growing number of high definition channels. Add Blu-ray (the high definition disc format) to the mix and most of us will be happy with the high definition material available.

The increasing amount of HD programmes has also coincided with the evolution of the flat panel TV which now offers comparable standard definition quality to our old cathode ray tubes along with a growing feature set. LED backlighting, Internet connectivity, Skype, Wireless and 3D capability are just some of the exciting new features available on a modern flat screen TV.
